ANIMAL BOY

Privacy and ad tracking

We're a small indie rock band that writes songs about holding hands and Cormac McCarthy. We're not in the business of selling your data to data brokers, and we will never do that. This page explains the type of data we collect, why, and gives you an option to disable it.

Ad tracking

Why. We spend a small amount of money on Facebook and Instagram ads to reach new fans. Meta needs a signal that someone clicked on a particular link (to listen to a song or buy tickets) so they can optimize and only show ads to people who want to interact with them. This helps us save money by not wasting ad impressions on people who have no interest in listening to our music, or bots that open the page and don't take any further action.

How. This site uses the Meta Pixel. When you visit, your browser tells Meta:

• which page you looked at
• if you click a streaming link: which service (Spotify, Apple Music and so on) and which release
• if you click a ticket link: the city and date of the show
• if you join the mailing list: only that someone joined, never your email address or city

Along with these, Meta receives what any website you load gets: your IP address and browser type, plus a Meta cookie. Meta can use these to connect the visit to a Facebook or Instagram account. We may also send the same click events from our own server to Meta so they’re counted reliably. All of this can be disabled with our opt-out function.

We only see totals in Meta’s ad tools (for example: “40 Spotify clicks from Toronto this week”). We have no way of knowing who you are, and we don’t sell or share anything else.

Opting out takes effect immediately and covers this browser on this device. If your browser sends a Global Privacy Control signal, we treat that as an opt-out automatically. To control how Meta uses your activity everywhere, use your Facebook and Instagram ad preferences.

Mailing list

If you join our mailing list, we will keep your email address and city (if you provided it), and the date you signed up. We will only ever use this list to send you infrequent updates about new music or upcoming shows. We will never sell or share the list with anyone. Every email has an unsubscribe link, or you can email animalboyband@gmail.com and we'll delete you.
